stage 3 bowel cancer and resultant ileostmy,chemo etc

Is there an appropriate forum for this? I'm originally from the uc forum. My sig hasn't been updated for a couple of years but the info will give you an idea. My total proctocolectomy was done on March 4 this year.
If this turns out to be the right forum I would be grateful to hear from someone with a similar condition.

Hey Mackster, I remember you from the UC forum. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and surgery. I also had surgery, due to my UC being refractory. Actually, I just past a year from my first step, but it was 3 steps so it's only about 7 months since my takedown.

I hope you find some people who have had similar circumstances to chat with. This form is mainly for people who have had, or are considering, GI surgery, so you are in the right place so far as that's concerned. How are you doing since surgery? I had a three step and I was surprised how quickly I was able to get out and about with the ostomy.

Nssg, I'm glad you got through the steps unscathed. Unfortunately that wasn't an option for me. I'm on Xeloda, an oral chemo (lots of pills) and it's brutal to say the least. Right now I'm searching online for some men's underwear that can support the pouch. They're pretty pricey. Do you happen to know what a 'night drain' could be? It's a box to tick when ordering but there's no explanation as to what it is.

I'd call their customer support and ask them to clarify it for you.

I think it is a separate bag with a tube that connects to your ostomy bag so you have extra room so your bag doesn't overfill and burst. I've used them in the hospital when my output was very high.
