I am almost six weeks post-surgery. Things have gone smoothly for me so far. During the first couple of weeks my pouch would feel pretty active during mealtimes, and I would usually empty it right after eating. Since starting on psyllium husk capsules at 5 weeks (which I take an hour before meals), I am going 4-5 times a day, and sleeping through the night. At the moment, I go to the bathroom before I eat, and then don't normally need to go again until I go before my next meal, and then I empty the pouch before I go to bed.
Even if I feel there's something in my j-pouch, I have no problems in holding on for ages until it's convenient to go. There is no urgency, even when the pouch feels full. After the first few weeks, emptying my pouch became efficient: it takes a few seconds, and that's it. It's really not a big hassle.
That sounds like a dream from what it used to be. I'm hoping for a similar outcome. Thanks guys.
