Side of bag keeps coming up!

I just had my surgery and I know my stoma fairly well. I know when to change it now and how, but I can't seem to get the bag to fully stick on. The wafer sticks on, but the bag itself unsticks near the incision.

It doesn't fall off, but I don't like it. Help?

Are you using a 2 piece? I always used the ones that snap instead of the ones that stick. The snap ones felt more secure, and they are easier to swap out the bag.

I'm using the hospital bags they gave me, I don't have a two piece atm

The stuff they gave me at the hospital never worked that great for me. If you know the size of your stoma, approximately, you can get samples from all the different vendors. I always had fun trying different products. You can search on google and order through the web, or some you can call. Some even have nurses on hand who will talk to you to help guide you to the right products. The wafers can be cut to fit, so you basically just need to know if you need small, medium or large. Ileos are usually on the smaller side.

The problem is that they can take a while to get to you. Do you have a home care person? Mine gave me some stuff to try when I had her. She only came a few times, but she was helpful with learning.

The ostomy nurse preferred the hospital bags and because they functioned, there were no samples. But now the sides are coming up and I'm not sure how to keep them down

Not sure if in the short term you have a medical supply store that might have barrier strips. The side by my belly button sometimes comes up so I always use a barrier strip on that side. I use the Brava ones by Coloplast.

I have the same problem because it's where my knickers pull on that part smile . I tried SureSeal but that was overkill and caused different problems. Now when the wafer begins to loosen there I just stick a Nexcare clear waterproof bandage there and that holds till change day. Good luck.

Maybe you can call your doc and see if they ave samples. When i was done with my bags, I donated them to th office for this purpose. Also, they have barrier strips and this putty stuff that you can use to cause a dam where it keeps coming up. Mine kept doing the same thing near the belly button and it helped a lot. That helped for the outside of the wafer. Is yours on the inside? Near the aroma where it keeps leaking?
