Hi, I have had UC for 7 years. I am 27 year old women who has been on pred for 7 years. As all of you know pred. is not fun. I have now been told that I have cancer. I was already planning on getting my colon removed, but now it is a must. I can not have the J pouch due to where the cancer is so I was looking into the K pouch or something like it. The outside bag is not for me. If anybody can tell me about their stories with the k-pouch that would be great. I  have a PET scan tomorrow to see if anything has spread.

 

Does anyone know about prepping for surgery? do you have to clean out your system? (yuck thats the worst part..)

 

And how long will it take me to recover?

Hi, my name is Brad, a 28 yr old with j-pouch for 2 yrs after 6 with uc. I am curious as to whether or not you have rec'd any responses, as I am exploring other options, my body has not tolerated the j-pouch.

No one has answered me, but i post alot on the UC page and they write alot.... The new thing is the BRIC. If the J-pouch isn't working for you , this is something you might want to take a look at. I will being having my first surgery for the J-pouch on the 16th of this month..... I am scared and Happy. I want it out now.. LOL best of luck to you.

O.K. then, with your surgery coming up I know you are anxious and all, be positive, life is so wonderful, bla, bla, ha ha, but best of luck and please feel free to write if you have any questions, etc. I am assuming you are doing a 2 phase j-pouch...
