Yup. I've got one. Boo-hiss. shakehead Just ordered a parastomal hernia belt. I have some things I'd like to ask, but need to attend to some things. Any and all suggestions, support would be appreciated.

Kinda knew that I had the hernia, but I guess I've been in denial. Thought that maybe it was just that I had gained so much weight (about 70lbs since surgery) and thought it might just be fat around the middle. But the last 5 days it's been hurting and protruding even more.

I had surgery Jan 9th and went back to work after 4 weeks.Im a self employed contractor so need to work to pay bills.Im letting my guys do heavy lifting,trying to keep weight down.Im 6'5-228,have gained 10 lbs since surgery.I know i have to be super careful or ill have hernia surgery .I like physical work but have to change my thinking til all 3 surgeries are done.good luck

Wow Ok I don't feel that bad I had my surgery Dec 12 and gained 10 pounds used to be a size 6/7 now a 8/10 around the stomach I still have a little bulge near and around my stoma area could it be a hernia? Even after 4 children I never had a stomach till now. I have been afraid to lift anything really heavy but I do a lot around the house always moving no choice. How did you know it was a hernia Notbob?
Going to go skiing this weekend not sure if it's a good idea was planning on staying only on the smaller hills. Next surgery is March 19 sad

Valli- if you go skiing let me know how it goes, I’m supposed to go in March but am scared I won’t be able to handle even the greens (I get super tired still).

Not formally diagnosed but was researching hernias on the interwebs. Could very well be just a weak muscle protruding and not a tear I suppose. Going to make an appt. to see my surgeon.

No input on a hernia, but I'm going skiing this weekend. First time since surgery. I'm interested to see how I do since my core strength has never gotten back to presurgery strength.

notbob, how long after your surgery until you noticed it?? Update when you talk to the surgeon.. getting a hernia is my worst fear!

Not exactly sure but I'm guessing maybe 5 months.
