Hello Everyone

I've had an ileostomy for 12 weeks now and it has prolapsed. It hangs out all the time I'm upright. I measured it today and its about 3.5" from top to bottom when I'm upright.

My doctor says he can do a revision. Any thoughts on it? Pros? cons?

Did they try the sugar thing on it? It sometimes can help a little..but 35 inches....I don't think it will...hmmm. Are you able to keep your wafer on and does your ostomy appliance work for you? If your stoma has that much
externally you would think you would not have much room left in the bag..

My CRS said that revision surgery should be saved for when we absolutely have to do it. He also said that it can be just as uncomfortable as the first time..There are ways that they can go in and attach it so that it does not come out again..(I think)

Did they say what caused this?

2014 they said 3.5 not 35. That's 3 1/2 inches not 35 inches

I did this after I took my methotrexate, had my remicade infusion and had taken benadryl...no brain cells awake and eyes at half mast...

I almost can't type. Quick give me a hole to climb in. I am so sorry...

I was in a hurry earlier. I forgot my decimal in my first reply...and I made an assumption. I know better but brain freeze. My stoma must be huge. My PA told me it was average, so I thought the majority of people had an stoma that was 53 MM or over 2 inches wide. Based on that assumption I wondered how you would get it to fit in the bag with the output.
