Trouble with barium enema test today

Wasn't a fun day. Had tube slide out 3x and each time they inserted it it wasn't fun. Dr stopped test. End of tube was bloody which he didn't like. Dr said talk to surgeon which I'm doing next week. Dr said maybe anesthesia or a pediatric tube??? Will discuss with my Dr. Wondering can they do it day of 3rd surgery??

they will need to confirm that you don't have any leak before committing to surgery. I had the test the day before. I think you are going to have to make the drive to the hospital where they do the procedure more often. I think you were trying to do it locally...

Can you do it the day before and just book a room one extra night and stay over?

Thats prob best idea.Head nurse said Dr will examine me Wednesday and might have me do test same day or ill tell him what u said.First 2 surgeries i got hotel room day or 2 before surgery so doing it day before works for me.Will see what he says Wednesday

The same thing happened to me last week it fell out x3 times and poured the liquid everywhere finally I just curled up in a ball squeed the nurse's arm and let them put the bigger tube in place. I also have a sigmoidoscopy booked for tomorrow morning where they will go in with a camera through my back door and I just learned they are going in through my stoma ( sorry but what the ...) I am so not looking forward to that test, they said I can ask for a mild sedative.
I know they won't do the surgery till they know there is no leaks. I didn't have any blood on the tube did you ask why that was?

Had barium test at Nassau Radiologic last week. I'm sure they don't do test every day but Dr did say intestine was prob attrified from not being used for 6 months Why blood we don't know. I mean it really wasn't comfy. Were they pushing/forcing it in?? Maybe/kinda. Or it just aggravated tissue/skin. I'll know more tomorrow when I see Surgeon. Valli were almost done both of us. Quess one last bump in the road with this test stuff. Good luck

I am having a dye test on July 31 and then my take-down on August 9. Surgeon did a digital exam yesterday. THAT was not fun! He assured me the dye test would be easier "because the balloon they will use is smaller than my [his] finger." O, joy......
6 months of non-use for me, also, Champ. Hope it goes well for you!

Let us know how to do songlady. Mine was no big deal, but i had read a lot of stories where people had difficulties, so I was very nervous about that test. The other exam was worse for me versus the pouchogram. Good luck. I can't believe you're about to be reconnected. Time has passed quickly. So happy your health is back to normal. No more CC worries ever for us!

Well surgeon wanted to do either barium or sigmoid today but i told him i would rather have some sought of anestesia. He said no problem,so I'm having it in hospital on Aug 7th.He said if sigmoid looks good then no barium enema.After what i went thru last week I'm glad i spoke up today.My comfort is priority.I explained difficulty with keeping tube up last week and blood on tube and my undies.Thank the lord for anestesia

Songlady good luck with the test it isn't that bad and you are a day after my surgery, a new beginning for all of us. Good Luck
