Loop Ileostomy vs End Ileostomy

Hello,

I wanted to see if anyone has had both a temporary loop Ileostomy and then moving to and end Ileostomy to see what their experiences were. How is managing the ostomy and does it feel any different? Are the bag changes easier?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Everything was harder for me with the loop. My end was no trouble at all. I could change my bag weekly and I didn't need any extra supplies. With my loop, even if I had all sorts of rings and tape and paste, I still couldn't get the wafer to last more than a day. A day was almost impossible. I ended up using a one-piece system because I was changing so much it was faster that way. If you're doing 3-steps, it's just something you will have to get through, and some people don't mind theirs so much. You will do fine. It wasn't easy for me but I made it.

I had the end and then the loop. The end stuck out more and the whole was on the top. With the loop it was more towards the skin. This is why I needed convex for the loop and the barrier rings. I didn't need all that for the end. The end ileostomy was much easier.
