I can't really speak for noodles and she doesn't seem to pop in that often, but I've known quite a few people who have stayed with their ileo. There are some great things about the ileo. The first is that you get to retain more of your GI tract. With the jpouch you lose some in the process of creating the pouch. Also, pouch function is variable, ileo is usually somewhat steady. The ileo supplies, while they sound alien to people who have never used them, are quite easy to use and they are somewhat fail-proof. It's like tampons. You have a few options and you choose the one that works best for you. With an ileo, you probably empty less overall. With the jpouch, people empty usually 6-8x a day. With a ileo, it could be 4x. At the same time, there are some downsides. You have to have supplies on-hand. You also might dress for the ileo. I know with mine, I would wear looser fitting tops. Emptying outside of the home isn't the best, and changing outside of the home if there's a leak is really not fun (but it's not common that it happens). Both sides have positives and negatives. People i know who have stayed with ileos are mostly really happy. A lot of people are confident and have bigger goals in life than worrying about their bag. I've seen a lot of parents who stayed with the ileo and they never looked back. They are able to do all the things they were missing. I also seen people who wanted chicldren and didn't want to risk scar tissue, so they opted for the ileo, and they went on to start families. Ive seen people have children with jpouches too. It's a lot to consider and I don't think you're at a point where you need to worry, but it's good that you're curious. <3
