Hi, Bigsouthfork, and welcome! I’m a moderator in the fibromyalgia forum and happened to trip upon your post! I’m so sorry you have waited five days for a response. I hope you are fine now. I have an ole ostomy and did have issues with blockages and I would gently massage the area. Also, I had read there is something in grape juice that helps with blockages so I always kept a frozen can of Welches grape juice concentrate in the freezer. I would prepare it according to the directions and it really did help me. Sipping on hot tea also can help with blockages.
When I had partial bowel obstructions, nothing would come through and I was doubled over in pain. That’s when I headed for the emergency room. You sound like you just have been dealing with discomfort you aren’t used to. It’s no fun...especially since you are a new ostomate and have a million questions.
Please post and let me know how you are doing. I really do care about you.
By the way, rice can expand and that could be why you have had this problem. You can eat rice but start out with small portions. Do this with any foods to see how your body and surgery handle the food.
