Hans378,
I am sorry your girlfriend is having these issues. It is very hard to watch someone you care about struggle.
Is she at home....and they left the NG tube in? Where is her pain? What is she trying to do about it? What do they think caused her obstruction...was it due to intestine inflammation or due to food?
When I have a NG tube in I can not eat or drink. My stomach hurts and cramps...plus that tube feels like it is stabbing me. If I am understanding you correctly they sent her home with the tube intact? Is that correct? When they send me home from the hospital after having a NG tube it takes my stomach about 3 weeks to heal where I can eat solid food. I drink ensure, SCD diet chicken bone broth (the recipe is online) and clear foods. I stay away from carbonated drinks.Sometimes I can eat Ramon noodles without any of the enclosed seasoning...with a little butter or real cream in it. When I eat or drink...its at room temp....too hot or cold causes more pain. My output is not as much because I am not eating as much.
If they send me home with a clear scan and I had a partial obstruction...its taken me up to 2 weeks on fluids before I start to feel better. Then its still soft foods like runny oatmeal, soups, scrambled eggs.
Now if they think there was inflammation..that's a little different. If there is inflammation I go straight liquids until it eases....and that's taken a month or longer... Very uncomfortable.
Regardless-she needs to stay hydrated. That's hard to do. I drink/eat things at room temp when I am going thru this type of a situation.
I hope she feels better soon.
