Jpouch Surgery

New guy. Had UC. Meds stopped working or did not work at all. Had colon removed in December. Next surgery is in May. Surgeon says since I have been off meds, especially the prednisone and immunosupressants, he is going to form the pouch and reconnect in one surgery. Has anyone else done this?

A lot of people do it in 2 steps, but typically they do the removal and creation in one step and the reconnection as the second step. It's great that you're going to get to have surgery complete in two steps rather than three. i did three steps and it took quite a while. I would have jumped at the opportunity to be done after the second step, but I would have probably wanted to ask for questions. Does the newly built pouch need time to heal? That's what I always thought, then again, there are rare people who get it done in one step!
