Diversion Colitis. Since I have researched UC for 42 years thought I would do a bit on diversion colitis. If you have a rectal stump almost 100% get it,in varying degrees. Please note since I am here I lost the UC battle. Your going to find the main treatment other than barbie butt are short chain fatty acid enemas, acetate, propionate, butyrate as sodium salts, which are difficult to obtain. What I am posting is not medical advice, just some studies you or your GI may not know about
or care to look into. First one coconut oil which is a tryglyceride/fat. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6768601/ Your going to also find that butyrate is the preferred fuel of colon cells, via beta oxidatin. But medium chain fatty acids will also fuel colon cells. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9135532/ This one indicates a lack of bifido bacteria. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3964268/ So where do you get medium chain tryglycerides. MCT oil on Amazon, you can get mixed or mostly c8 oils. Eating it won't work never gets to the diverted rectum. Again this is stuff you can tease out of the medicl literature. Sticking anything mechanical into the rectal stump might be dangerous, let alone varoius chemicals. You can also go here and see what some people do. https://www.uoaa.org/forum/search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d...
There is other stuff like fiber enemas but you get the picture. Sorry not active links just copy and paste,The first study has been posted in the past. Oldmike
