Mom - sorry for the delay, been going through some medical drama of my own these days! I would say that one of two things is happeneing. First, you may have slow motility of the small intestine too, as long as you are going... and not getting obstructions I wouldnt worry about it. Second, your body could just be adjusting (food that used to make me go carrots, sunny delight, and apple juice). Perhaps you want to take out bulkin foods as these will tend to make you go slower (bread, pasta, peanut butter). Personally, I only go every 2 days give or take, I notice that I feel more constipated and my stool is harder when I dont drink enough pure water. My stool is formed again, not hard just formed... and I am not worrying about it. Long term, perhaps they will need to go in and shorter my small intestine as I fear I have slow motility of that as well... but for now I am not worrying about it!
Katy - Im glad that we can be of some service. You are right, this surgery is typically done in older people, so perhaps we can study it together because I was only 25 when I had it done. As far as osteoporosis I guess I am not familiar with this as a complication because the calcium is absorbed in the small intestine which is left untouched. Please explain... and ask any question you need to! :)
I had Lasix surgery on Friday, and I am having a few little complications from it.... so right now you can call me the eye drop queen. Its so much that I even had to call in sick to work because I do not have time at work to put drops in every 30 minutes... it sucks... but I can see... so perhaps it will be worth it in the long run!
Hugs,
Emma
