Peristomal wound

It is possible for you to use a different kind of cream that might work as well as oral antibiotics?  Maybe something to take the sting of the irritation away.  If your doctor says it's okay I suggest using a powder like Gold Bond around your stoma and then spraying over that with a skin prep.  THe powder is medicated as well as anti-itch so it can be quite relieving.  I had a small peristomal wound as well as swelling around an area of my stoma thanks to a blood clot in my small intestine that was caught too late.  It resulted in a very sore and sensitive spot right on my stoma.  Using the powder and the skin prep helped me.  My ostomy nurse also suggested using something like an Eakin seal along with your regular barrier.  That way your skin is protected and might heal more easily as it is not constantly being rubbed by whatever you are wearing (depending on where your stoma is....mind is right around my waistline).  Not sure how infected your wound is but it might be something to look into.  I hope this information helps you, feel better soon.
