Just returned from my 10-day hospital stay. I had a total abdominal laproscopic colectomy. It was quite rough in the hospital (5-hours away from my hometown). Wandered what everyone is experiencing at home once released. During the hospital, prior to my release, my bowels were very loose..nothing formed...I was on all liquids for the first 7 days..On the 8th day when regular food was introduced (noodles and soup) my body could not tolorate it. I would vomit....Back to strickly liquids for another day..I was released and told not to rush the eating of regular food. I eat a scrambled egg for breakfast with juice, and ensure for lunch. When I try anything more solid, I suffer in intense pain. My stomach become distended and painful,,,,nothing moves....
I called my doc and they say to continue what I am doing..I am afraid to eat anything that will cause constipitation (God forbid) and afraid not to eat enough. I am walking 1-hr each day in 3-2- min intervals. I am drinking so much water, I feel as though I will pop.....
Someone please let me know if you are having or had similar experience...
Sweetie
