Hi enpointe and welcome,
I'm so glad you wrote back. Did they diagnose you as having colonic inertia also? Did they say what they thought caused it? I can't seem to get a straight answer. I was supposed to have my surgery this past Monday but I cancelled and went for a second opinion. Seems both docs agree that the colon is the problem. Do you have about a 10 inch incision on your stomach? That is what they told me. I am going to be scheduled for surgery in Dec or Jan. I think I'm ready now. It really encourages me to know that you are doing well and that you are grateful for doing it. I know how you feel about the complications after surgery...been there and done that. They should paste a big sign to our foreheads that say 'Fibromites are always the exception, and never the rule!' I finally figured out to bring a copy of 'Fibromyalgia and elective surgery' from http://www.myalgia.com/index_post.html with me for the anesthesiologist and for the surgeon. This has helped with the last couple of surgeries. Are you on a colostomy bag or did they sew your sm intestine to your rectum (anastomosis)? I will pray for your recovery that it will be quick and that your body will mend like it should...eventually being painfree!
Take care
gogently
BTW check out ostomies/total colectomy Part 12, there is tons of info there but not so much on fibro, please keep in touch and let me know your progress, okay? Who are you seeing for your fibro right now (rhemy, neuro, or GP) and do they have you on any type of meds?
