NON-Transparent and long irrigation sleeve?

Dear friends:

I am reconsidering colonstomy irrigation. I wouild appreciate information about two key matters:

1) My ostomy nurse said that the sleeves come only in transparent form. Is that true? The colostomy bags come in transparent and non-transparent form, so why shouldn't the sleeves too? As far as you know, are sleeves available in NON-transparent form so that I don't have to see the stool as it pours out of my stoma?

2) Facing the toilet while doing irrigation is very depressing. Are there long sleeves that would allow me to turn around like normal people on a chair with my back to the toilet?

Knowing the answer to these two questions will help me better to decide what to do.

I've only ever seen transparent ones but since I don't irrigate, I don't know of the whole range that's available.

As for sitting on the toilet waiting for the return, I have many colostomate friends who irrigate who clip the sleeve up and go about their housework, eg washing the dishes, cleaning their teeth, etc while waiting and empty the sleeve when it gets full. There really is no need to be sitting on the loo the entire time from what I've learned.

Though I have an aileostomy now I had a colstomy for 15 years. I tried irrigating for a while,but could never "train" my bowel to become cooperative. I don't see why you would have to face the opposite direction on the toilet. Is that what you do with your ostomy now???I used a clear sleeve which I would clip up and get ready for work while waiting for the irrigation to work. After about 2 weeks I gave up. To me it was too much of a hassle. But I have read of many people that do it successfully. I didn't have a regular bowel movement before having crohn's, which is probably why irrigating didn't work for me.
