Thanks for your advice, it is just that even though it has been about a couple of months, I still cannot get used to this thing. I am actually an R.N. but have been on disability due to this illness, but I specialized in High Risk L& D, so what I remember about stomas is from '87.
I have had a tiny bit of bleeding here or there, but tonight was a lot more and a lot redder. I use the personal flushable wipes to clean the area well and I had to use 3 of them before the bleeding lessened. I use a skin protectant b/c my skin is so sensitive, and when I went to put the bag back on it hurt for a good 15 minutes. Normally it doesn't. How long have you had a bag? How long did it take you to get used to it and when did the surgical pain of it all stop? One day I think great...I am doing better, I just as of last week went down to 25mcg of the fentany patch and I have vicodin for breakthrough. I have had many surgeries on my tummy, but nothing like this. I really thought I would be off pain meds by now. I also deal with a lot of anxiety, so I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Thanks so very much,
Krissie
