Hi Robin, Adviceseeker, and the others who have been helpful along the way,
All I can say at this is point is, gosh, what a difference a week makes! I am feeling so great. Yes, I am very low on energy, but my bloating and pain, and general disomfort is really going away fast. I have been sleeping well, eating well, and pooping well. I go about 8 times per day, but it is no longer very watery and burning, just very loose. As every other member here has posted, I am filled with glee each time I go :)).
I think my diet has contributed to my speedy recovery, as well. The fist days after I was given the clear to resume a normal diet , I have been eating "Morningstar Farms - meatless burgers" They are made with rice and soy protein, yet are easy to digest, and delicious, and come in a bunch of different varieties. Also, a bunch of different vegetable soups. Too much carbs are not really agreeing with me, and make me feel more bloated than I would like. I have also been eating salmon and chicken with no problem, in small amounts, not bigger than a deck of cards. I have not felt like trying beef yet, though.
Also, I have been taking a homeopathic supplement called TRAUMEEL, BY HEEL, and its sold in health food stores. It is for bruising, inflammation, and muscular pain, and I think it really has helped me be comfortable during the day. The night is still difficult, because I am still at that stage where I want to do things, but really dont have the energy yet, and I get very uncomfortable at night, just from sitting around all day. However, thats what the pain pills are for, right?! I have been on several walks around the block, and that helps, too.
The doctor said my colon weighed more than 10 pounds, and was very, very long. I will go see him on the 27th, and get some more info, if he has it. I am so glad to be rid of that thing, I cannot even express. My husband says I have a waist again....yipee. Unfortunately, I guess because I am eating so well, I have not lost more than 15 pounds, and the weight of the colon was 10 of that 15. Then again, I am just sitting around, too, so maybe theres hope yet. I just dont want to starve my body of anything it is craving during this crucial healing period!
The biggest thing is that my allergies have literally gone away overnight. It is so weird. I used to barely be able to put my makup on in the morning, as I would be sneezing every two minutes, and using 20 tissues to blow my nose by the time I left for work. I have sneezed maybe 10 times in two weeks. I attribute it to the non functioning toxic colon, and I think my body was trying an alternate route to get rid of all that muck.
Before my hospital stay, I had no idea that the average person makes more than a quart and a half of bile per day, and if it doesnnt go somewhere, it will make you very sick. I can attest to that, as after surgery, it took longer than usual for my stomach and intestines to start moving again, and I got really nauseaus, and was throwing up all over the place. Thats when they put the tube in my stomach to pump out all the bile that my system could not handle yet. It was the most awful thing I've ever been through, snd I hope that it happens to none of you. I am really mad at the hospital, because they did not follow typical protocol, anmd use any numbing spray or ansthetic on me. They just jammed it right up there, and it was very painful!
However, that being said, it did help me a lot, and the next day, I really seemed to bounce back, and was able to eat the following day.
Time to go, sitting on a hard chair still hurts my insides, and bum, so its back to the couch I go......
Feel free to ask me any questions, I am very bored by myself all day. I am not really the couch potato type, for too long....:))
