Hi all, doc says I need to have colon removed. Have read alot on this site and others, my questions are anyone with j-pouch did you have hemroids before and do you have them now? The reason I ask is sometimes I think thats what gets me the most. People that have a koch pouch is it a problem keeping your tube and what everelse you need with you? does the valve ever leak? How about useing public restrooms?

Hi, I am having an ilesotmy in 28 days. I talked to my dr and he said that he did not suggest the j pouch or the k-pouch. But that the j-pouch was better than the k-pouch. The k-pouch has alot of problems apparetnly, it's a realtivlely new surgery and only performed a few places in the US and all the bugs aren't worked out yet. I thought it sounded great until he started telling me more about it.

I have had a jpouch for about 10 months now.  Yes, I had hemmorhoids before and now.  Lots of people with jpouches don't have them though.  I developed my first hemmorhoid when I had UC and it never went away.  thinking back now I should have had it removed while I had the ileostomy but it never bothered me so I didn't think about it...

I went to a general surgeon after I had my Jpouch and was told that he couldn't remove the hemmorhoids because it wouldn't heal properly as I 'go' about 6-8 times a day.
