can anyone tell me how long their open colectomy took?

I'm just wondering how long your surgery took? One person in my docs office said 2-4 hours, then another told me 1 hour. Surely they cannot do it open with anastomosis in an hour!

I had a total colectomy with a j-pouch and temp ileostomy performed in just under two hours and I had a hand sewn anastamosis! My surgeon has done 1000s of j-pouches hence the speed of surgery. Time will vary considerably depending upon the experience of the surgeon.

i was put out at 9am and woke up around 1pm for my proctolectomy....so i imagine it took most of that time
