Returning to "normal" after operation

How long should I expect it to take before my husband to be able to return to "normal" activity after his operation on June 11th?  We have a family reunion the end of August and we will need to travel there (about 8 hours) in a car.  I was hoping that my husband would be pretty much recovered by then.

What surgery is he having?  But I would think he would be ok by then.  If he has had UC the trip will most likely be easier on him than before sugery!

He has had UC for 33 years.  They are going to remove his colon on June 11th and he will have a bag waiting to have a reconnect within six months.

Provided he has no complications he should be well enough to travel by then.  It might take 3-6 weeks to feel recovered from the surgery.

Yeah he should feel well enough by then. I had surgery one month ago today, I had a permanent ilesosmy though, and I don't think a car trip would be extrmely fun for me right now, my bottom still hurts, lol. But other than that I would think I would feel well enough and that would give him almost two months to get better. Good luck with the surgery!
