is this normal?

My 36 year old sister was involved in a horseback riding accident almost 4 weeks ago. She has had a colostomy for over 2 weeks and this morning her abdomen starting hurting and when she removed the pad from the wound she had feces coming out of the wound that she sustained in the accident. she immediatelycalled the doctor and he said it was normal, that it could happen everyday. This is not the mucous discharge i have read about, it is actual feces ( and lots of it). The wound she has was over 11cm deep and is now around 8cm. the wound has to be flushed and repacked  3 times daily. could someone please help?

I had this issue with my inscision and I ended up on a wound vac. The resident got feces in my inscision though it was not seeping out. I do have an abdominal abscess though and at 1 point there were fistulas from my intestines that caused feces to be drawn out of the abscess. The abscess also made fistulas. When I flush my drain daily some of the saline comes out at the bottom of my wound still as well as from around the stoma. Due to the abscess not getting any better now the doctor is going to resect the ileostomy next month rather than 6 months post op
