Surgery for dysplasia

Hi, I am new. Has anyone had a colectomy due to dysplasia?UC for thirty years,butI have been able to control it with medication and yearly scopes. Last April after

 my yearly colonoscopy, I learned that I had dysplasia in my right side colon. Since then, I have had another colonoscopy, CAT scan, flex sig and blood tests. All 5 doctors tell me that I have to have the surgery. I am scheduled for surgery on AUG. 1. I'll have the ostomy first. Then I hope to have my colon reconnected to the rectum. I am really high strung, so this thing has me so scared.

Thanks for the reply,Shaz 032. I have had UC for such a long time that I have forgotton what it feels like to be without it. I am in pretty good health otherwise. I retired last year, but I couldn't stand it!! I went back to work teaching 5th graders. They can keep you hopping! I am going to have a positive attitude. I told my school to keep an opening for me because I plan to return.
