Can I take a bath?

I forgot to ask my dr this question and now it is the weekend and his office is closed.  I have had my ileostomy for 10 days; can I take a bath with my bag on?  I love to sit in a bubble bath and read a book a couple times a week.  This is how I destress from my everyday life.  Can I still do this?

I take a bath almost every day! Most of the time taking in a good soak! Sometimes if I am going out right away and don't want to dry it (I have the cloth covered Hollister model) I tape it straight up and only let the water get up to below the bag. I know it's not as fun as laying down, but it works. I am not a shower person ....

idon't take baths, i like showers instead but i have been in the pool and the ocean. BUT if you are still using thoses wipes under the flange, to protect your skin, mine are called no sting something, then it might come loose after the bag, no biggie, you will just have to change it

JUst make sure the doctor says it's okay so soon after surgery. My doctor only wanted me to shower for at least a month to protect the incision. But, I don't take baths, so no big deal.

However, I do go in my hot tub almost every night. I just make sure the pouch is securely on before I go in. the heat from a bath or a hot tub won't damage your stoma.

I too prefer a shower over a bath, but no worries getting the flange wet.  One thing I do when I get out of the shower and towel dry - I turn my blow dryer on warm and dry the underside of the pouch and the flange (mine is the convatec flexible 2 piece flange/pouch).  It makes getting dressed after a shower a little more comfortable - not so sticky, damp under the pouch.

I have had an ileostomy for the past 2 years. I take a bubble bath all the time for the same reasons. Also I was a lifeguard last summer so i wan in and out of the pool all summer. there are even times that i take the bag off in the bath so that i can clean the skin really well.

Thanks Amber! Your amazing! I would have been so uncomfortable being in the "spot light" all of the time while wearing my swim suit. I took my kids swimming last week and I held my towel over my tummy as I walked to the lawn chairs.

EVERYONE! WOW! I am so amazed at all of these responses! I never expected to read so many insightful comments! I appreciate your help.
