frequent bowel movements

I must confess I am writing this on behalf of someone who is not coping well with her colostomy. Apart from the dietary restrictions, her biggest frustration is the frequency of bowel movements - which is 5-8 times a day. She feels that this is ruling her life. I am hoping for some insight from you, who know what she may be going through and can offer suggestions that I can pass along. Thanks.

For me, that's pretty normal .... When I am going places and don't want to always be 'filling up' I take codeine prescribed by my gastroenterologist and it slows things down a bit.
