How in the world do you do it?

Are you using a one piece appliance? I use a two piece appliance with an opaque bag, and it's easy to apply. I put the wafer on first and then attach the bag to it.

That's one of the reasons I don't use a one piece, but there are many people on here who do successfully. Hopefully they'll come on and give you some tips.

I use a one piece and my box of bags comes with a (excuse my blond moment--I was up all last night!) guide thingy--looks like a bunch of stencils--and it's very easy to measure a stoma. You just place the guide thingy over your stoma to see which one fits the best and then draw the circle on your wafer and cut. It's a real breeze once your stoma picks a size and stays there.

I have to confess, I have had the same question. My home care nurses gave me a handful of Hollister one-piece pouches to use in an emergency. I measured my stoma with the (what did Jen call it...) "guide thingy" and then cut the wafer to my stoma size. Then when I put the pouch on my stoma I could not see my stoma and I could not tell if the bag was all the way around my stoma or if I had it on top of my stoma and not on my skin where it is suppose to be. Within an hour, I had fecal running down my pants. So, I ran to the bathroom and got another pouch and this time I was very careful and tried to apply the pouch as well as I could without being able to see my stoma. To me, it is like changing your bag in the dark - I can't see what is going on under the pouch. Well, that pouch lasted me for 3 hours and then it leaked as well. So, now I keep the one-piece pouches in my car for an emergency back up. I would LOVE to use a one-piece but I just cannot figure those things out.

if you are using a two piece it's really easy to use the opaque bags, and i couldnt' stand wearing those clear ones, that was awful to me!
i have gotten now where i don't have to use the guide thingy (that's what i would have called it too) i just know where to to cut it, i can't remeber when you said your got your surgery, but if it's just been recently you will get the hang of that too.
anyway try a two piece if you want to do that, and it might be easier for you

I have only tried a one piece a couple of times and that was a long time ago.  I'm like the rest of you --- just can't tell if I'm getting it placed right over the stoma.  So I stuck to the 2 pc. wafer and pouch.... 23 yrs now!  They are just much easier for me to use.  Good Luck with whatever you decide to use!

ash-well i guess you would be back to normal then, lol.
I don't know if i would be petite exactxly but i am small framed, i wear a size 8 and iam super short, lol. My clothes aren't tight, like spandex or anything, but i don't wear baggy clothes or anything and they don't show anything, even my bathing suit didnt' show and i wear a two piece, bathing suit and bag, lol.

I've used a one piece opaque bag for years. Getting it centred properly has now become second nature. The pics will give you hints on how to do it though.

I can wear a two peice bathing suit. I cut the tape part off of the top of my wafer and fold the top of my bag under my bathing suit. I bet you can wear one if your stoma is under your belly button. I found an adorable bathingsuit and the bottoms come up right to your belly button.
This suit does not make you look like your wearing your grandmother's suit from the 1950's..it is really cute.

The bottoms also have a buckle on the right side which helps hide the bag as well.

well my bathing suit is two piece, but it is one of those tankini things, my husband thought it was a tennis dress, he's a dummy, but there was a pic on there. i miss showing my bare belly too, but i hadn't been able to do that in years, having a baby and years of steroids kind of ruined that for me.
amey is wonderwoman, she got back to normal in like a day!

i am lucky to still be able to wear my clothes too, if only i could wear the ones i wore when i was 20, but of course i dont think those are appropriate for a mommy, lol

I wear a two-pc and I am a fitness instructor. All of my pants are very tight and fitted low. No one can tell that I have a bag on at all. The members who take my classes know that I have a bag and they constantly tease me that I am lying about having a bag b/c they cannot see it.
