Hernias Anyone?

With all of my surgeries, needless to say, my abdomen is a mess. Since my last surgery in January, things have been healing ok but I still have some soreness in my abdomen. I do a good deal of therapy so I often feel a strain in my abs. A couple of months ago I developed a sore spot that was hard to the touch near my stoma. My internist and surgeon didn't think much of it but I think it was a hernia. I kind of babied it, easy on the ab stretches, and it went away. On the other side of my stomach I have a deep scar from a j-tube that was removed after surgery. Now I seem to have a sore spot right there. I'm hoping it's only another "pre-hernia" and not a fistula brewing. Does anyone have any ideas?

This may be a really silly question, so forgive me if it is. Is it possible to develop a fistula when there has never been UC or Crohn's? Or does it have no relation to those diseases?

My abdomen seems to get really sore when I'm laying down for too long. I'm hoping it's just because I'm 6 months post-op and my body is still recovering. I have harder spots on my abdomen as well, but I think it's just scar tissue. Ahh I'm always worrying something is brewing in there that is need for concern!

Indobag(great name , by the way!), is it possible that it's an infection from where you had the J-tube??? I'm no doctor, but I'll tell you why I don't think it's a fistula. In my case, when I developed fistulas it was always where there was Crohn's. I wouldn't think they would leave in any diseased intestine when you had your surgery, and I couldn't imagine you developing fistulas that quickly.

Did you speak to the doctor about it???

Thanks for the replies. My fistulas developed because my small intestine was severely damaged due to the infections. The surgeon tried to close them up the first time around but several sites were weak and eventually ruptured. That was last January. Since then I seem to be ok. The spot where the j-tube was red and sore like the fistulas were before they began leaking. since it is a deep scar, like a second navel, I now think the skin became a little infected (something got in there) causing the redness plus there is some scar tissur there. I treated it as a skin thing and it seems to be clearing up (knock wood). If it doesn't clear up I'll check with the doc and report back if its anything different. Thanks again for the replies.
