Well Ash, you mentioned in your other post, that your output is mostly liquid. So when you empty your bag, there is probably little to no stool left behind? Most of the time, mine is like that as well. Sometimes it isn't. Like with your pasta experience. That is when rinsing comes in handy for me. Since I only change my bag when I change the wafer (and I am back at about 7 days wear time now), I like to keep it rinsed. Usually only a couple of times a day is all it takes for me since I am more of the watery type. (And I usually rinse only when I am at home -- first thing in the morning to start fresh!, then again sometime throughout the day if it needs it, and usually before I go to bed.)
Some folks don't "rinse". I think it is a personal preference. I believe that if you have what Shaz referred to as "pancaking" - where the stool kind hangs out right around the stoma at the top of the bag - it may cause the "itchies" a little sooner since the stool doesn't drop away from the opening around the stoma. And that seems to be where my wafer wears away the quickest. Tho rinsing also adds liquid to that area, it helps to remove the stool that seems to be the culprit of the wafer degradation.
Again, this is just a personal preference. I'm sure others have their own routines. I'm hoping they will share their's too.
