Discharge from rectum...

I know it's normal to have mucus and maybe even a little blood discharge from your rectum  - but what is a normal amount and how often? I had UC, and have an ileostomy - they left my rectum and a tiny bit of colon intact, so I can have a j-pouch later. I'm thinking the UC is back in what's left, but maybe this discharge is normal? It happens 4 or 5 times a day, and can be pretty red at times. There's no pain really, like there was when I actually used my colon. TIA!

I had my whole colon removed due to UC plus most of my rectum because it was in really bad shape from all of the trauma over the last few years. They also went ahead and did the J-pouch while they were in there, but I haven't had the reversal yet. I have the rectal discharge - some days worse than others though I don't know why. Sometimes there's a pressure-like pain that goes with it, but the doctor said all of this is normal and that there might even be some stool mixed in at times.
