Rec'd my final order order of Neupro today - so I have peace of mind for a few months. Just want to let anyone interested that the Israel company tells me they have a constant influx of Neupro and do not anticipate a shortage.

Have you tried calling any pharmacies directly in the UK or Germany? I read that they were supposed to restock the pharmacies with refrigerated supplies of Neupro patches (cold chain supply) and replace the older supply. But I'm not sure if that has happened yet. I'm not sure if they take an American doctor's prescription.

Thanks for the info regarding pharmacies in Germ. & UK. The Canadian store I was using sent their orders from a pharmacy in the UK and the last time I checked with them, they still did not have Neupro available. And I tried to find a pharmacy in Germany, came up with nothing, but maybe I did not know how to do it. Do you have any site info?

I am so grateful for this info because it gives me hope that they will keep mfg. the product and perhaps it will again easiy become availablel Thank you. I went to my new dr today - he gave me a presc for Neupro 2 months ago and he looked at me, had me walk and said "Amazing - Unbelievable" it is so wonderful to be pain free, stand up and walk straight, think clearly and have no down time. I am "harrassing" Schwarz Mfg. and UCB to hurry with getting this back on the market again. It is impossible to get any info from them. Because of what this med can do, it must get back on the market so it can be prescribed here in the US. In me, without a doubt, it has slowed down the prgression of PD. (I want to say "stopped" it, but not enough time has elapsed to honestly say that.) If it has done so much for me, I know there are others like me.

If anyone has had contact with the FDA, Schwartz or UCB regarding Neupro, I would really appreciate knowing what they told you!! I am going to continue calling them - maybe they will get tired of hearing from me and do something (yeah, right!!).

I truly believe there is an answer for all of us.

My information regarding the European pharmacies is just based on my reading of the news on the internet.  There were several articles (including a press release from UCB website) from June 2008 that Europe was starting a "cold-chain" (refrigerated) storage and distribution system.  I read a few articles last month that UCB will replace the old Neupro supply with refrigerated ones during the end of this year and early next year. 

I just found a Forbes article saying this:

"The group said it is implementing a full cold-chain storage and distribution system for Neupro in Europe, with a variation under review by European authorities.  'If successful, UCB hopes that Neupro will be available again to all patients in Europe by the first half of 2009,' the group said.  UCB will also seek dialogue with the U.S. in 2009 about a potential re-launch."

I hope this helps.  It doesn't look like the US will get its own supply of Neupro for at least until a year or two.  I spoke to the Canadian pharmacist through whom I used to get the patch; and he said that the UK was supposed to get a resupply "soon."  I haven't heard an update.  I don't have any information about German pharmacies.  I was just going by what you emailed me.

Hello my Neupro Friends,

I know that some of you want to know that yesterday, I rec'd an e mail from IsraMeds.com, where I have been receiving Neupro, telling me they would no longer have the 6 & 8 mg patches available as Schwartz advised them they were going to mfg only 2's & 4's.  IsraMeds said they were in short supply, but Neupro was coming in adequately to fill smaller orders. 

Personally, I am so frustrated as I know many others are - went to my Dr today & we decided to add Azilect to Neupro - he seems to think it will slow down Mr. P  so I can reduce the Neupro because of the cost and availability.  I called IsraMeds & was told many Neupro customers also use Azilect in conjunction with Neupro & although they cannot make recommendations, it was clear how felt.   Does anyone have any experience with Neupro & Azelect together?

I know we must let our doctors help us make these personal decisions about what is best - we are each unique & I am not suggesting anything for another person - I'm just venting my frustration and looking for some answers for myself as well trying to keep the fear factor down.  Getting Neupro which has maintained my health has been such a roller coaster ride and I don't like roller coasters - and neither does Mr. P. come to think of it.

Am going to close and take my frustrations for a walk - my best to all of you and be well.

In case this is helpful info to anyone, my friend who visited Hong Kong found a pharmacy who ordered 2 mg Neupro.  They were delivered temperature controlled (icepacks) and had expiration date in 2010.  So, the good news is that UCB is still making newer packages.  Prior to this, I had only heard of expiration date of Dec 2008 being available.  The pharmacist said he did not accept mail order, only in-person orders.

I still have no problem getting 8mg through my pharmacy in the UK -  three boxes delivered as usual this week - why is the rest of the world having supply problems? Is the UK not involved in the recall? Anybody know?

Thank you so much for your update on Neupro - I am encouraged that you are still getting the 8 mg. - I wish I knew what is going on with this manufacturer. It is my understanding that it has not been recalled in the UK, it is just that the manufacturer has stopped manufacturing the 6 & 8 mg and mfg only 2 & 4.

I recently received pricing for 6 mg from IsraMeds, and the only way to get it now is with a 2 + 4 mg, and the price was $842.46 for 28 days - ouch - you might want to do some checking and and consider stocking up in advance with your UK pharm if your price is reasonable.

Is your pharmacy giving you Neupro they have on hand, or do they order it.. If they order it, does it come directly from Germany, or a company that supplies drugs to a many different pharmacies, as they do here in the States. My concern is if it comes from a "warehouse", will they be able to replace it when their supply runs out. It would not be good if you were just told at the last moment they have no more 8's in stock - been there, done that and believe me it is not a good feeling to have to scramble to find it. If it comes directly from Germany, that greatly encourages me.

This week I checked on line with 3 Canadian pharmacies who get their product from the UK and it is still unavailable.

Hi Bayside et al, I have to go to the harmacy today for stufff so I will check out the supply situation with neupro. The curious thing in all oft his is that rotigotine is lecensed in the uk for up to 12 mg daily as a mono therapy and 16mg as a duo therapy in long term patients [but curiously not in 16 mgs duo for early stage therapy]. If as Bayside thinks it  is a manufacturing issue and they are only going to make 2s and 4s what happenss to people like moi who rightly or wronly use 16 daily? If I hhad to use 4 patches daily I'd end up sticking the darn things on my willy looking for new placess to stick them. I'd look even more like a patchwork quilt' Maybe I should email nepro directly and see what comes or has anybody already done that? HHey Ed, diidn't neupro message us way back saying that there would be a supply problem while they rejiggeed the adhesion to stop the crystalisation process on the patches where the peeling off strips met? I'll read back and see.

That was quick! ust revisited the neupro recall warning and in the states the warning merely says that they are b eing recalled and not why! If there is crystalisation on the centre of the patch - don;t use them. I cannot get in to the part oof the website "for uk residents" as it is password protected!!!! What is the point of that one might ask? I shall play around with some uk websites and get back to you all on this.
