Don't know if I posted this before or not but it was something we did for Mom that helped us all A LOT! I bought a cordless doorbell at the hardware store and mounted the button on her water mug. You could mount it on anything big enough to find easily (so it doesn't get lost in bedclothes or beside a chair cushion) that is light enough for your PD patient to grab. This works like a hospital call light and was a real help when Mom's vocal cords weren't working so well. She would punch the button and the doorbell would ring where we had the chime plugged in. This was so helpful when I was in the basement doing laundry or in a room with a fan on where I wouldn't hear her voice.

Another thing that was difficult for Mom was using the remote on her TV. She had certain shows that she wanted to watch everyday and didn't want to bother me to come turn on her tv, but the remote was difficult to use. It was black and the buttons were hard to read. I put white appliance paint on the channel change button because that was the one she could never find. I put red nail polish on the "off" button and a piece of green bandaid (veggie tales!) on the "on" button. Because she could turn the tv on and off and change channels she was thrilled to maintain this bit of independence.

Later, when we lost the remote the kids got her a "wee mote" from Fisher Price (I think). Very simple with big buttons for little hands and easy for her to operate. Not very many buttons so not confusing. When we found her old remote she still wanted to keep the weemote.
