For sometime now I have had the gut feeling my employee was trying everything within their power to put me on disability. One time they did over both my objections and that of my Dr. In April I feel they got their wish. They found a way to set me up for a safety violation. Now I am without work. The gut feeling i am getting now is things are being said to perspective employees that are preventing me from being employed. What can former employees say to perspective employees during an employment inquiry?? What can be done, if anything, to stop this??

Don't know where you are posting from but we are in UK. Last January mu husbands case came to Tribunal. After a week during which it became clear he was going to win his case of Constructive dismissal he was made an offer by his former employer that he accepted. We now have enough to live on. As part of the case he had to see a neurologist who had not been involved with him. He gave a very clear report of what he could and couldn't do [and frankly there was very little he couldn't do!] Maybe something like this to show prospective employers would help? I'd go gunning for your ex employer and remember 'What goes around comes around'

I live in Wyoming, a right to work state,. My wife works for the department of employment for the state of Wyoming. With what my employee did to me there isn't a whole lot I can do, since I was fired for "a safety violation" I am even unable to collect unemployment. I have worked for well over 25 years as a maintenance man and took extreme pride in the work I did. This job I felt would be my dream job that i would be able to work till I was ready to retire. It was with a multi national company with holdings throughout the whole world. All was good with my work for my company till the day I had the hell scared out of me. I have had been having some control problems with my left
side. However, on that day no matter what I tried i couldn't get a screwdriver to turn in my hand. To make a long story short I went to one Dr. who tested me and i couldn't accept his opinion so I went to my now Dr. who took one look at me and told me I had PD. From that day i told my employee everything my Dr. had shared with me things went down hill fast at work. Even with my Dr. saying that work would be the best theraphy for me. My employee continued to try to remove me. When I lost my job 1/2 of our income was gone and all my retirement, health care and prescription coverage. BUT I WONT GIVE UP!!!
My biggest concern is my former employee is saying things to perspective employees preventing me from gainful employment.

Hi again, That is just the pits isn't it. As if you didn't have enough to cope with to find yourself in that position! Similar to my husband. He found his fine movement in his right hand shot. Couldn't write [right-handed!] and needed to take notes. Couldn't use a keyboard with two hands. Godd news is since starting on his medss he can write again albeit not pages and pages and use a computer. He couldn't use a pepper grinder or stior coffee but that is back now. Maybe there is an even better job just waiting for you. Do they offer any re-training over there? We too lost private health insurance but we are lucky enough to afford to see the neuro privately and drugs are free on our National Health.  His pension went up the spout too but we're spending our old age savings travelling so that if in 10 or 15 years we can't we have memories to share. It's things like what happened to you makes me want to yell and shout 'It's not fair!' My Grandma used to say' No-one ever said it would be'. Keep posting and let us know how you get on. You never know you may have a book or a masterpiece painting in you!

Do you have dependent kids? We were lucky we married and had a family young so ours are grown-up.

Its me again. To me for over two mths the hardest thing to go through was just not knowing why my body decided to let me down. i went first to the emergency room, at the the request of my employee, at our local hospital. I was looked at as if i was being a waist of the Dr's time. They did a ct scan on my of my brain. they never did really tell me the results of that scan. I was told i had weakness. I was told to follow up with a neurologist and my own family Dr. I was told then i would be on light duty at work until i did so. the only problem being i couldnt see the neurologist for two mths however my own dr i could see the next day. He ordered a complete mri of the brain and lower neck. I decided to go to another neurologist in the same office because i could get in sooner. The faster to be off the short term disability, 1/2 my normal pay. My wonderful wife was with me at the first appt. My left hand was shacking like crazy as the dr. ask a bunch of med history. He stopped and looked at my wife and asked "Dose your husband shack like that all the time" My wife said in total disbelief "no why in the hell do you think we came in here for"
Then he asked me if i had any testing like an mri done and i pointed to the cd that i had given to him when he first walked in. I was then sceduled for another appt. in two weeks. Little did i know
this was only the start of my nightmare with this dr.

darwin,Welcome to Healingwell.Sounds to me like you are going down the same path so many of us have.Don't give up .I went thru quite a few neurologists before finding one i could work with.I assume that you feel you have pd.This is a difficult disease to diagnose,and is usually arrived at by a process of elimination.Like alzheimers it takes abiopsy of the brain to be 100% sure,and we aren't ready for that.Diseases with similar symptoms include ,but not limited to,Alzheimers,syphilis,m.s.,lyme disease,a.l.s.If that doesn't present enough challenge there are many forms of pd,and individuals often show different symptoms.To make a long story short don't get discouraged or give up.Modern medicine can normally come up with a diagnosis,and a treatment,and remember the sqeaky wheel gets the oil.I wish you the best in your efforts with work ,and the medical field.stay in touch,and let us know how you make out.Ed
