Hi, I'm new here....feeling my way thru the process.

I'm 63 yrs old and was diagnosed with PD about a year ago.  My Dad had PD in later life as well.

I'm looking for a friend to chat with on our common health issue.

I too was just diagnosed with Parkinson's about 2 weeks ago and I am also looking to talk to people who are my age 63 and to learn about the progression of this disease. I also have poloycystic kidneys which are starting their decline 37 % function.. I am trying just to take one day at a time and enjoy each good day. Since I started on Azilect I have much more energy then I have had in years. So maybe finding out was a good thing.

I, too, am recently diagosed. The meds have given me so much more energy and flexibility. I am looking forward to getting a lot of good information here from fellow Parkinsonians.

Seeing your posts encourages me.  I was diagnosed two years ago, but have not really made an effort to connect with others with PD.  I'm 61 am in pretty good health, other than the PD, but am increasingly sensing a need to connect with those who can counsel, commiserate, and share with me from experience as I navigate this path.

I will be 64 in another three weeks. I was dx in 2005 and am managing well enough with the medications.
Attitude and faith are the critical issues. On a good day, I'm as capable as ever. On a bad day, it seems like a black worm is eating my brain.

Family are your best resource. Do remember though, they are scared for you and sometimes that feeling overwhelms their love.

I ride motorcycles, work as CEO of a health care organization, and keep busy around the house.

We are all mortal; what matters most is the love and laughter which we share.

Welcome, Iam new to this forum but not new to PD. Diagnosed 12 years ago. I continue to work, drive, take time for grand children etc. All days are shades of "good", I am just more active on some days than others. Stay positive and connected to the busy world around you. I tell myself that there is a lost worst deseases to have, I can cope with this journey. Keep busy and love each day.

I was dx about a year ago although I am still not 100% convinced I have PD (see my "Correct Doagnosis and Meds?" post). I am really glad to have found this forum. I am 48 with a demanding career, kids in college, etc. so I am struggling w the dx. It is encouraging to hear about others coping well, especially that many are able to live fairly "normal" lives. I do have a lot of faith and am an avid excerciser (5-6 days a week for the past several years) and I know that is important.

So thanks to everyone.
