I have suffered from may symptoms of parkisons for just over a year now, and today I was finally diagnosed with Parkisons. am glad that i finally have an anwser to my health problems. But it sucks because i have 4 kids and I am only 27 but happily married. Are there any support programs in place in durham region ontario, and are there any disability income support programs for people with parkinsons?

Welcome to HealingWell.You need to hear from some of our Canadian members.I would google yopd.This is a group known as young onset pd.You might consider starting a support group.with the help of the National parkinson' foundation or the american parkinson's association. closer to home the parkinson's foundation of Canada.Wish you the best.Ed

My son is 35 and showing signs of parkinsons. My Dad had parkinsons when he passed away last year. My son has been researching and found that the blood disorder he has (tealangctasia...probably spelled wrong) ruptures the capilaries in the brain causing early onset. He was diagnosed with tealangictasia when he was 5. He has tremors in his right arm and when he gets excited his left one will start in. He gets twitching in his eyelids and once in a while his head will spasm. Is this normal? confused

Nana ,If he hasn't done so allready,your son needs to be checked by a neurologist.Tremors are not a normal occurance,and require followup.Wish you ,and your son the best.ED

He hasn't gone yet as he hasn't had any medical coverage in 3 years. He told me today he finally got it through DSS but it was a fight. The stuff that was offered where he worked was expensive and a $500 deductable per doctor. I'm hoping he makes an appointment soon. I know his daughter who is 4 has the broken capillaries on her nose. His started out on his cheeks when he was 4 or 5. I hope she doesn't have it too.

you are just who I was looking for. I thought I had lost my mind. I am a 27 year old mom of 2 young children. My dad was diagnosed (initially by me then by a neurologist) last year with PD. I've spent the last couple months trying to learn what I can without being overwhelmed or depressed. It has only been in the past few months that I began to notice a tremor in my left hand. It actually started a couple years ago just in my fingertips and is progressing. I really had not even thought about the possiblity of myself having PD and now I am scared. I work as a nurse and tremors are not an option. I'm in that stage of do I pursue a diagnosis or leave it be for now and see if it gets worse. I haven't said anything to any of my family or friends for 2 reasons. One, if it isn't PD then I'm afraid of looking like a hypochondriac and two if it is the guilt I know my father will have thinking this is some how his fault along with the longterm effects it has on medical coverage.
It feels good just to put it into writing.

You may not follow your father.I would check in with a neurologist for an opinion.Might be something as simple as coffee or muscle strain from work.Or possibly a medication you are taking or even stress at work.or your mind working overtime.Wait till you have seen a Dr.then you can inform family.Although it does happen pd at 27 is rare,and no genetic link has been found yet in pd.Wish you the best,and stay in touch.Welcome to HealingWell.Ed

ive had parkinson's disease since the age of 15 years old , young-onset or juvenile parkinson's it was know in those days, now 46 years old , in advance stages of parkinson's disease now, thou still manange quite well, married 25years this year , two children , one girl 20 years old , son , 17 years old, looking back , i would,nt swap my life again , parkinson's disease or not i,m enjoyed my life so much !

Canada has a fairly organized PD support system. They basically have one national organization, unlike (and unfortunately) like the US. I forget the organization name, but encourage you to investigate. (I attended one of their support group meetings in the Toronto area a few years ago.) I do not know specifically about young onset groups.
