jinkyns,Welcome to HealingWell,Everyone responds differently to sinemet,and other pd meds,and no 2 individuals with this disease will achieve the same degree of relief or the same effective length of time that sinemet is effective.Stay in touch with your neuro,and don't stop the meds without contactingyour neuro first.I've been on sinemet(stalevo) for 10 yrs and still driving.Wish you,and your husband the best.Ed

I would also get an appt.with a movement disorder specialist.quick answers to your questions1.I try not to drive when my meds have worn off,and i'm waiting for next dose to kick in.Your husband my be able to drive again.initial benefit may take days weeks or even months,and may require increasing the dost.To increase effect:take sinemet with little or no food for 20 min. after med.Don't take with a lot of protein which will decrease effectiveness.Exercise will help get meds working sooner,and stress is bad decreasing effect of meds,and increasing pd symptoms.I have found these things to be true in my case,and many others with pd i have soken with.ED ps gramatical errors are due to fact that mya meds have worn off and im due for another round.During my on time I can do most anything any other 65 yr old can.
