my father has PD.
I do not know when it started. But he showed visible symptoms after he had a surgery in his elbow (which he fractured in 2004). the doctors gave him full anesthesia and we suspect that could have triggered PD. He is suffering from this dreadful disease for the past 5 yrs and I think he has moved to stage 5 now.
he can't walk, he can't eat solid food, doesn't chew or swallow. he doesn't talk. he is bed ridden.
he takes Syndopa (Levodopa) and there is no improvement. Doctors say that there is nothing they can do about it. in fact, they say wait for the eventual. It is very painful.
he used to walk to places and talk incessantly. To see him like a vegetable, It is really painful. I wonder why there is no cure even after 50 yrs of research. Governments spend money on nuclear bombs and missiles and space research, but doesn't care about diseases that kill humanity. It is sad and heart wrenching. Sorry guys, if I have hurt anyone. I am just venting out my frustration.
Do let me know if there is any association or organization in Madras/India to support PD patients.
