Wish you the best .AtYour first neuro visit the Dr will probably check coordination,balance walking ability and a host of other muscle involved activities.He may also order some other tests.The definitive test for Parkinson"s Disease is whether or not the PD drugs help stop or slow your symptoms.If they do the assumption is made that you have PD.With this in mind the dr may put you on a med right away.Keep in mind that a dx of PD is not the end of the world ,and there are many meds to help you with this disease.Above all keep a positive attitude,and remember we are here to help you.Let us know how you made out with your first visit.Ed

I  hope your neuro visit went well. My neuro also ordered an MRI, EEG and a myriad of blood tests. I also had an eye exam to eliminate Wilson's Disease. I'm a bit claustrophobic, so opted for an open-sided MRI. It's pretty much like it sounds  - open on the sides so one doesn't feel as closed-in. I don't know how readily available open-sided MRI machines are. I've also heard they are less accurate, but adequate for use in a Parkinson's diagnosis.

 

I later was in a study that required a functional MRI and had to be in a 'regular' MRI machine. They covered my eyes with a wash cloth, which helped. The wash cloth was placed so I could still peek out and look 'down' toward my feet, but not up toward the machine which is in your face. As you mention, you can also get a prescription for something that takes the edge off.
