I am moving to Lancaster, PA in three days and I plan to make my contribution to the community by starting up a YOPD support group.
Only obstacle? I don't know what a good YOPD Support Group looks like or how I get it started.
I have doctor friends at the hospital in town who can get me the space I need. But I really want this to have current relevance to YOPD'ers like me who struggle with employers, disability insurance, keeping moving when everyone else starts to write you off, keeping up with your hobbies and athletics, planning for your financial future, and also increasing the awareness among our elected officials of some of the less than positive assumptions people make about our abilities.
If you have any ideas about where I can get guidance (be it a website, or a book, or someone you know who's set up a good support group) I would like to hear from you.
It's a bonus if you also live in or near Lancaster, PA.
Thanks,
Tom (aged 49, diagnosed in 1999)
