Hello every one,
I'm so glad I found this site. Been looking for quite awhile and this looked like the place I wanted to be. From just looking around here there seems to be a lot of communication between members and we all need that reaching out, communication and touching another person, like ourselves, that have PD. It can be a very rough road to hoe at times. I have had PD for 13 years now. I did pretty good for about the first 8 or 9 years, then things started to change. The last couple of years have really been tough because I have not only been dealing with PD but am having other health issues. Been through so much testing and they still haven't found an answer to most of it, but we have learned that I have neuropathy in my legs which has gotten really bad. It has made the falling issue a big one. Sometimes you just can't win.
There is something I would like to share with the ones of you who have been recently dxs. I know the doctors send us to a neuro for dx, but if you can find a " MOVEMENT DISORDERS SPECIALIST ," do so. I found a PD center about 3 years ago and for me it was the best thing. All the doctors there are MDS plus I got PT and speech therapthy. All these people work together and everything is in one place. It has been a blessing for me. It is about a 2 hour drive for us, but well worth it.
Look forward to being a part of this community and hopefully be able to contribute something.
