Husband just diagnosed

My 45 year old young husband has just been diagnosed with parkinsons. He has a rich career and is at his peak. We are upwardly mobile, travel all over the world and, luckily, have everything we want. Now, faced with this disease, what changes do I need to make financially? How long can he provide for his family? I am worried that we wont be able to provide for my son. I already suffer from another auto immune disorder which makes it difficult for me to work full time. We are emotionally and physically dependent on my husband

I was diagnosed three years ago. I have been taking Azilect. It has been a good choice for me as I have seen very little progression of the disease. To stop the tremors I also take one Artane a day. I am doing very well and have virtually no restrictions as to what I can do. I hope your husband is seeing a movement disorder specialist. They treat PD and diseases that are movement related.

Don't look at the diagnosis as life stopping. He may have many years without serious symptoms.

Has his neuro talked about the diet restriction of foods rich in tyramine like aged cheese and air dried foods? That was changed in 2009 and is not widely known by doctors. Go to www.tevapharm.com. Scroll to the bottom and select "news and pr". Scroll to the bottom and select archive 2009. Scroll down to the fourth press release. It tells about the reversal of that diet restriction. Just informaton for you.
