Mama was told she had PD 3 years ago..after knee surgery. She since has had back surgery. A plate was placed on her spine, had to move her vocal cord to do this. After knee surgery she began to walk on her toes which slowed her walk. After seeing countless doctors, neurosurgeons, she still won't accept PD diagnosis. She thinks her shuffling walk is from knee surgery and pain in her arms/hands is from neck surgery as the hoarseness in her voice. She has difficulty dressing by herself, that's when the tremors in her hands start, but stop when she stops using her hands. Just saw a new neuro doctor yesterday...he says, as 2 previous doctors, it appears to be PD. But sending her to get her throat checked since she has a plate. Also had 2 doctors tell her PD would not cause pain in her arms and hands. I just don't know how to help her accept things.
I'm also dealing with my 24 year old son who had UC..had his entire colon removed and had reconnect surgery. So I'm dealing with alot right now. Think once my mama accepts she has PD, she will give up.
