How do I know what to do next?

I've been taking care if my dad for the last 3 yrs. he's 75 and had PD for almost 14 yrs now. Mobility has been gone for sometime, drooling a lot, coughing a lot while eating but mind is still there. Then a month ago He got pnuemonia and cellulitis in his leg in hospital for 3 days. Then went to nursing skilled facility. While there he then got UTI and started halucinating, agitated, combative, fell and wasn't eating or drinking. They sent him to ER cuz of the bad behavior. Well he was dehydrated he was almost in kidney failure. He was given IV fluids and was up talking and better. Sent him back to skilled nursing and he's out of it again. Not eating or drinking but he is taking his meds. I just don't know what to do. Is this signs of the last stages? Can anybody help me? Should I take him home and talk to drs about terminal care. He doesn't want to be hooked up to machines. Thank you.

Hi Jillers. I don't know if this helpful or not, but my mother in-law had both her knees replaced, one 3 times. While in the hospital each time, she developed an infection that was undetectable by any blood tests. The hospital wrote her off as some old woman with dementia and refused to listen to us. Each time, I had to make the threat of contacting an attorney to get some antibiotics into her. Once she got the drugs necessary to combat the infection, she was better in about 4-5 hours. Is it possible he has an infection? We call it mad cow disease.
