Pelican/Frustrated,
I was diagnosed with PD in 2001. I have been VERY fortunate to have had a slow progression. My primary symptom is tremor. My tremor is an annoyance at times, but not a functional issue. I still work full-time and do everything I ever did ... just with a bit of a shake.
My tremor is primarily on my right side. I was told that it would eventually carry over to my opposite (left) side. I do have a slight tremor on my left side, but it is minimal at this point. Before I was diagnosed, I would often 'bounce' my right leg. If I stopped the 'bounce', it seemed my hand would shake. This wasn't all the time ... just when 'the bounce' (later known as a tremor) was occurring/aggravated. Things that aggravate my tremor include: stress (BIG time), cold, physical exertion - exercising, working in the yard, and caffeine, among other things.
I think I understand what you mean by 'jolts'. I occasionally have them as well. I think they occur primarily when I am tired.. I asked my neuro about it and she said it was when my body was basically falling asleep for a second. I'm not totally convinced - the jury is still out. I haven't exactly determined a pattern.
I'm glad to hear you are seeing a neurologist. Better yet would be a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders ... a movement disorder specialize or MDS. THey can be hard to find, but are the most educated on PD issues.
Best of luck!
