New DX

Hello All
As I posted before the Dr has said to take my husband off all meds. My husband was on Mirapex and did nothing for him and is now on is on Levodopa Carbidopa(Sinemet) 100/25,2 pills 4 times day. He was on the last meds for about a year. They really did not change any thing for him. He has one more week then he will off them all ,so we will really see if they did do anything for him. I made a call to the Dr office as I was very confused by this .They have said they believe that he has Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Has anyone else experience this dx .It make some sense and so only time will tell if this it.

Hi, waterloo, sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. The thing with even idiopathic disease is that with any type of other physical upheaval on the body such as an infection or any metabolic imbalance,cancer, etc, the symptoms are just that much more worse than for someone who is not sick with the other stuff. So it may be that becasue of his cancer his parkinsonian symptoms are that much worse and so the meds do not work. There is no good answer to what he is enduring and how to make it better, unfortunately. It is very difficult even to make a correct diagnosis even by the best of physicians under this circumstances. All you can do is keep him as comfortbale as possible and hope for the best. Hope you have some good help through other caregivers or family members, because this is a difficult thing for just one person to handle as far as caregiving goes from hereon. Sorry, I do not have any better news to share with you.
