Hi, I wonder does my symptoms ring a bell with anyone that has been diagnosed . I have right arm tremor and right lower leg numbness. I am going for a Datscan on the 23rd of this month but I am worried.  My right hand tremors are quite bad and I get a terrible electrical sensation in my forearm , it seems like a iron bar has been inserted in my arm it feels so stiff, but still it feels like it is twisting.  This feeling seems to get worse if I lean over to lift something. Does anyone get similiar symptoms? confused

I know it must be terribly worrying, all these unusual symptoms. There are many conditions that cause tremors other than Parkinson's. You do not say how old you are, and how long you have had these symptoms, if you have other health conditions, any prescribed or over the counters neds you are taking. MRIs of neck (cervical) and back may also be considered if datscan does not come up with anything. Sometimes, a nerve compression in neck can cause similar symptoms.

I would just wait until datscan is completed, before getting too anxious, because anxiety can exacerbate such symptoms.

Iam 56yrs and I have had Fibromyalgia for over 10 yrs. I have had an MRI which was clear, I suppose the tremor started about 2yr ago, my dr put it down to an underactive thyroid, but it has escalated alot these last few months. My hand and forearm have taken on a life of their own jerking and twisting, Icannot tap my right foot the same as my left and I have trouble doing the "finger thumb tap test". I hope this makes my problem a little clearer to those of you who are already experiencing Parkinson's. Hope someone is able to inform me what they think this could be.

It may be, but only a movement disorder specialist can tell for certain. You are young enough to get a hoice of medications and other surgical interventions and in the future stem cells. however there are other conditions that can cause parkinson's like symptoms. Sometimes even after seeing a good neurologist it may not be apparent exactly what type of Parkinson's it may be....it can take upto 5 years to dermine if it is plain old idiopathic PD or a version of it. Your test datscan may help.

Thankyou Brainstorm, I had my Datscan on Wednesday so I just have to wait now, although the radiologist did say my neurologist will get back to me sharpish.  I still have all my symptoms so if it isn't PD I guess I'll be looking forward to alot of tests to find an answer.

I wonder if your neurologist tried any medications on you to see if symtoms improved before recommending the datscan?

No, he just said that he would like me to have the scan. This last week my chin has joined the party! I just would like to know what I have, then I'll deal with it, but not knowing what is causing these tremors is driving me crazy. Thanks for replying to me.
