Hello everybody. I am new to this forum and I was hoping that I could get some advice.
My grandfather lives with us and is in the advanced stages of Parkinson's and dementia. He spends most of his time sleeping or in his own world. Lately, he has begun frequently choking on his own saliva, approximately once every 5-10 minutes. He doesn't stop until one of us either reminds him to swallow or opens his mouth for him so the fluid can drain out.
Has anyone dealt with anything similar to this, and if so, do you have any advice? We are open to all suggestions.
Thank you!
