As Parkinson's Disease progressesn the throat muscle also become stiff and rigid. So the problem in swallowing develop.Why do throat muscle become stiff. because they're no talking. No exercise, no activity. And there's no operation for this problem. You might have aspiration pneumonia when you eat/ The food might go directly to the lungs.
There are certain things you can do if you have difficulty in swallowing. You can chop the food in tiny pieces. or if ti still a problem you can mahe a puree. One more thing that you can do is adda a thickener in their food. Thickener serves as a lubricant to make the food slippery and easy to swallow. Or you can givvw hin Ensure, cottage cheese, pudding, jel=o or ensure.
