Hi:
For the first three weeks after surgery, I was doing the kegel exercise following my surgeon's recommendation, three times a day, 20 times each time for 10 seconds on and off. I found that I was in more trouble after three weeks. After reading other cases doing the kegel exercise, I found a few people indicating that sometimes, recommended kegel exercises can be too much so I reduced the number of times to twice a day, 10 times each time for 7 seconds on and off. Believe it or not, the improvement was almost immediate and the leakage started diminishing within the next couple of days. Conclusion: try to determine what works best for you since we all seem to respond differently to recommended kegel exercises.
It has now been 7 weeks since the surgery and I am down to one pad a day ... for perhaps a couple of small leakages per day while laughing or sneezing or lifting something.
Good luck, be patient and remain positive.
